Sassy Palm Print Maxi

I posted this maxi dress a few weeks ago (gosh the time has flown by!) and y’all absolutely blew me away with all of the amazing responses. I’m so glad you loved it! And now it’s finally here on the blog, in detail, for you to see. I call this my “sassy maxi” because the high slits on each side, combined with the off the shoulder neckline, puts a little extra sway in my sashay. Not that I usually sashay, but I feel like I do in this dress. Haha! It makes me wish I was dancing somewhere in Miami or Mexico. Alright Trent, I’ve got the dress; now where is my vacation?!

In all seriousness though, this palm print maxi is a great example of the high-slit trend done right. While you are showing off quite a bit (read: a lot!) of leg, your arms are covered and it’s a full length dress, so you don’t feel totally exposed. It’s just enough to make you wanna strut your stuff! The print itself is really unique, too. I love the color combination of blue, green and orange. It’s unexpected and surprisingly beautiful. Not to mention, it photographs extremely well!

Now I know what some of you may be thinking: what if the perfect gust of wind comes along and whoosh those slits become a little too revealing? Well Fashion Nova has already thought of that and added a built-in bodysuit to this dress. So when you slip it on, much like pulling on a swimsuit or romper, there is a full panel of fabric cover your mid-section, derrière, and hips. It ends up looking like a pair of shorts or bloomers underneath, which keep you from revealing more than you want too!

I’m pictured wearing size XL, which fits great. I would say it runs true to size. The knit material is soft and silky, making it feel like you’re wearing pajamas. In my opinion, if you can feel like you’re in your jim-jams and look this good, it’s a slam dunk!

I noticed that Fashion Nova is sold out of several sizes, so I found a similar dress in the exact same print from Forever 21. It is sleeveless and has cut-outs on the side. I think both are fabulous options! Just keep in mind that Forever 21 does tend to fit a little small. I recommend ordering your usual size, plus one size up just in case.

Now for the handbag: I’ve had so many people ask me about this! It’s a new favorite of mine from Anthropologie. I got it in Huntsville over the holidays. As soon as I spotted it, I knew I had to have it! It’s a great deal at only $58 and the quality is fantastic. It fits my phone, lipstick, wallet and keys perfectly! This handbag also comes with a strap so it can be worn as a crossbody.
