Our Favorite Baby Products and Nursery Items

This blog post has been a long time coming! We had a lot of favorite products from when Olivia was a baby that we knew we wanted to use again, but there have been a lot of NEW things we used the second time around that I wish I had back then. For example, we didn’t take Olivia many places the first year of her life because it was during the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, I never really had a reason to invest in a really nice diaper bag. So when I found out I was pregnant with Courtland that was the #1 item on my list! I had my eye on the FAWN diaper bag because a friend had one that she went on to use as a camera bag. It didn’t even look like a diaper bag! I thought it was just a really great leather backpack.

Flash-forward to me receiving my FAWN Square Diaper Bag and I fell in love on day one. Why? Because I immediately realized how much stuff I could fit in it with all of the carefully thought-out pockets, zippered compartments, and rings all while keeping it extremely organized. I really need to do a “what’s in my bag” video to show how I fit everything in there! It’s like my Mary Poppins carpet bag. I was actually able to get you a discount code so you can try it, too! Here are some other items I wish I had as a first time mom:

  • Newton Bassinet & Bedside Sleeper: This ties the diaper bag for my #1 “wish I had this” item. Trent and I were both pretty anxious about safe sleep and the Newton Bassinet & Bedside Sleeper, coupled with our Owlet Dream Sock, gave us a lot of peace of mind. I really enjoyed the bedside sleeper mode because gave me some of the experience of co-sleeping, but made me feel more comfortable that he had a designated safe space to sleep. It also has all-mesh sides and a breathable mattress. Plus, the mattress cover and mattress were SUPER easy to clean which is a huge deal if your baby spits up a lot. When we were ready for a little more space I was able to use it as a regular bassinet, too!
  • Parker Baby Co. Bibs & Plus-Size Friendly Belt Bag: We were very lucky that Olivia didn’t spit up much, but Courtland? Haha oh it’s the opposite. Poor little guy had some feeding challenges when he was a newborn, including reflux and a milk protein allergy, so he spit up a lot. In fact, he still does go through phases when it’s bad! We love these bibs because they’re ultra-soft and absorbent. They have an adjustable neck size, wash really well and come in beautiful color packs for every season. The Parker Baby Co. belt bag is perfect for walks and quick trips because you can fit a diaper, some wipes, your phone and keys in it without having to bring your whole diaper bag. It also comes with a belt extender to make it more plus size friendly! Use code “LOGAN” for 10% off your purchase!
  • Millie Moon Diapers: We tried so many diapers for sensitive skin and this brand, available exclusively at Target, is by-far our favorite! We compared Millie Moon to Hello Bello, Dyper, and Honest. It is the softest, most absorbent and best priced out of the four!
  • Weighted Baby Wipe Dispenser: While a wipe warmer certainly makes diaper changes more pleasant for your little one (especially during the newborn phase), the opening tends to wear out and stretch. If you don’t have to have them warmed, I like this Ubbi Diaper Wipes Dispenser because it comes with a weighted insert that holds down the wipes while you’re pulling them out. No more struggling to get a single wipe out!
  • Waxelene Multi-Purpose Ointment: I try to avoid petroleum products unless absolutely necessary, and this organic beeswax-based ointment is a great alternative! It’s hydrating, soothing and perfect for daily use during diaper changes. We’ve also had a lot of success with it healing eczema spots and rashes! Pesky drool rash on baby’s neck? Just wash with water, dry, then put a thin layer of this ointment on before bedtime. Now, that being said, there are some diaper rashes that get SO bad you need a heavy duty (pun not intended) barrier. For that I recommend Bag Balm. It’s a petroleum-based product, but it is a miracle-worker that’s for sure!
  • Anico “Egg” Baby Night Light: I saw this light on Instagram, bought it immediately and have zero regrets! It turns on by flipping it over and then dims when you press down on it. This was the perfect little light to carry around for late night nursing sessions, diaper changes or trying to find a pacifier haha!
