kendra scott spring 2018 collection
Happy Monday! Starting this week off with some major Spring inspiration. Kendra Scott recently released their brand new Spring 2018 collection and I couldn’t wait to see it in person! This season was inspired by the concept of breaking free from frames, exploring negative space, and letting jewelry be the artistic focal point in an outfit. The color palette is bright and tropical with hot pink and turquoise as the primary tones accented by silver, yellow gold and rose gold. There are thoughtful textures created with various shells such as ivory mother-of-pearl and abalone, hammered metals, and fringe. Stacking bracelets and layering necklaces is encouraged! It is a beautifully inspiring collection that immediately brings to mind warm summer days spent in a tropical location. They bring an air of vacation to every outfit!
Full disclosure: these shots were taken before I had coffee and, as a result, may feature some unintentional attitude (RBF). I promise I love this look and I was absolutely giddy to get my hands on this gorgeous jewelry! I just have a very short range of emotions and facial expressions in the morning. If you’re in the Charlotte area we shot this look outside of Suffolk Punch in South End. They share a space with Hyde Brewing and craft some of the best coffee in the queen city. I highly recommend the latte with oat milk and warming spices. It’s wonderful! Plus, the interior decor is to die for. Trent and I went there for our most recent anniversary celebration as part of an all day tour around Charlotte. You can read more about it and see additional pictures in this Instagram post.

Because this is such a bold, bright collection I wanted to bring together two key pieces in one outfit: the Nettie Statement Necklace in Rose Gold and the Diane Statement Earrings in Abalone Shell. Usually I would wear these on their own and let them shine individually. However, I loved the way the two items played off of one another: the hammered metal texture with the visual texture of the shell and the way the rose gold brought out warmth in the abalone. In order to maintain the jewelry as art concept, I kept the outfit simple and thought of it as a “canvas” per the wise words of Denise, VP of Design above. My sweater and clutch are only available in-store at the Pink Hanger in Charlotte, but I’ve linked some very similar items that will give you the same look! It does have a lace-up back detail that you can see in this picture, but we failed to get a picture of it on (blame the lack of caffeine). I love that you can adjust the lace-up to have it fall just off your shoulders or you can wear it as a deep v-neck. The white was the perfect backdrop for these Kendra Scott pieces! My lip color is actually a really nice, cream lip pencil that I used for allover color. It is the matte finish shade #008 by Bite Beauty which is sold at Sephora. I talked a little bit about them recently on Instagram stories. The key ingredients in this lip pencil are castor seed oil, beeswax and shea butter which give you the creamy texture with a matte finish. Bite Beauty is handcrafted in Canada and does not include gluten, sulfates, parabens, phthalates or silicones in their products. You can read all about why these ingredients are harmful and it’s important to watch out for them on your products by taking a look at the Beautycounter Never List. While I can’t speak to the heavy metal content or any unknown contamination, I can say that from the ingredients listed on their products they’re relatively safe. Big win! Plus, they perform fabulously. You can shop more of my favorite Bite Beauty products below:
Hope you all take some time to check out the gorgeous new collection at Kendra Scott. It is really a treat! The pieces will make you want to book a flight to a tropical island faster than you can blink. If you love one of the items, but aren’t sure how to style it feel free to reach out to me directly at thestylelodown@gmail.com for advice!
Have a beautiful week!
