My Favorite Jeans From Abercrombie
When Abercrombie first started testing plus size denim I knew I had to try it. I was driven by a combination of both curiosity and excitement. This was a brand that as a teenager I struggled to walk into their store without feeling dejected or judged. As a curvy girl, I didn’t see my body represented anywhere my peers shopped, but there was an extra amount of pressure I felt walking through the double doors of Abercrombie as shirtless models greeted you with the brand’s signature perfume. I immediately questioned whether I’d find my size, if anything would fit and if I was “enough” to be shopping there unless I lost weight.
In the last couple years we’ve seen a major shift in the fashion industry that has been both validating and exciting to watch. More brands are understanding that women will no longer accept narrow-minded beauty standards and sizing catered to only the thinnest of society. Each month there is another brand expanding their size range, adding plus sizes and re-working their entire fit to be more inclusive. Their marketing has reflected this, too.
I didn’t think I would ever see Abercrombie, especially with it’s controversial past, change their ways. But with the departure of former CEO Mike Jeffries, the hiring of Fran Horowitz as the new CEO and a focus on rebranding over the last 5 years there have been major improvements. This includes finally adding plus sizes to their denim line and a growing range of extended sizes in other categories.
My first reaction: skepticism. Did the brand put in the work they needed to, to understand the plus size figure? Could they really understand the fit and styles that will help us feel our best?
I had my doubts, but as soon as I tried on the jeans everything I thought about the brand changed.
The fit is perfect and consistent. Those two things are extremely challenging to achieve especially in plus sizes! It says a lot about the time and care the design team took to make sure the jeans were done right. I wear a size 34 and every single style of jeans I’ve ordered in that size has not only fit, but I’ve loved the look and feel of them. Now I’m addicted! I can say with confidence that Abercrombie jeans are my current favorite.
If I’m wearing jeans there’s a strong chance that it’s either the Curve Love Ultra High Rise Ankle Straight Jeans or the Curve Love High Rise Super Skinny Ankle Jeans. The “Curve” fit jeans have extra room in the hips. so they work best with my body. If you’re new to Abercrombie jeans, too, I highly recommend using their sizing chart and your measurements to determine your size. When I placed my first order, I ordered two different sizes to figure out the perfect fit.
Below are some of my favorite jeans from Abercrombie! If you’re new to the brand or have been wearing their plus sizes for a while I would love to know your thoughts. Please leave a comment below with your thoughts!
Thank you for taking the time to read this post! As always, I hope this has inspired you to wear the clothes you want, no matter what size you are.
