destructed denim jacket

It’s finally Fri-YAY!!!!  I couldn’t be more excited for the weekend.  We have so much to get done around the house (like putting up laundry I folded on Monday).  Plus, tonight we’re going to Craft Growler Shop for their Friday Movie Night.  In honor of fast-approaching Halloween they’re showing Nightmare on Elm Street.  Eek!  I’ve actually never seen this movie before.  I feel like watching it in a big group of people outside with lights on is a good way to do it!  And since it’s finally cold at night I’ll definitely be sporting this amazing destructed denim jacket.  It’s very fitting: a “slashed” jacket for a “slasher” movie.  👻

This jackets adds edge to any look.  It’s a washed-out black denim with some stretch in it for comfort.  The shape is slightly over-sized.  Honestly, I could have even gone with one more size up for a more dramatic look.  I’m pictured wearing the size large.  I’ve paired it with a really cute camo tank and this beautiful Melvin by Jess Seven Tassel Necklace.  Her pieces are all inspired by patterns, textures and cultures from around the world.  The necklace I’m wearing comes in several combinations: brown or grey beads with salmon/cream tassels or sky/cream tassels.  All of the brass components are made of authentic African brass and cast off the Ivory Coast using the lost wax method. This technique is done entirely by hand, which gives each piece a beautiful, artisanal feel.

The destructed denim jacket, camo tank and heels were all from one of my favorite boutiques in Charlotte: The Pink Hanger.  Unfortunately the jacket and tank are only available in-store, so make sure you check them out if you’re in the area!  Otherwise, I’ve linked some very similar items here for you to shop!  This jacket is a great transition piece because the distressing makes it fairly lightweight and it would look great tied around your waist if you get too hot.  Because the jacket is a soft black you can wear it with a range of neutrals including brown or even white as I did here!  Remember: there is no longer a rule about not wearing white after Labor Day.  Live life on the edge: just do it!  I really can’t say enough great things about these Levi 711 jeans.  They’re currently on sale for less than $50 and they have just enough stretch to be really comfortable without sacrificing fit and structure.  Truly a great closet staple item!

I hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy this amazing Fall weather!
