One of my favorite things to do on a Sunday night is online shopping and Netflix.  Especially if it’s rainy like it was in Charlotte today!   Unfortunately shopping for denim can be challenging.  Especially when it’s online!  There are so many brands out there at a range of price points that all fit differently!  You may be a size 10 in one brand, a 12 in another, and an 8 it one more!  It all varies based on the design of the jeans, the fit, and the fabric.  My size fluctuates a lot so I’m not usually one to throw down a wad of cash for a pair of jeans.  Yes, I know that I will wear them all the time and get a great price per wear value for those $200+ baby blues.  However, I prefer to spend that money on things that I can’t get for a cheaper price.  Like a fabulous handbag, that great pair of shoes, or a really good bottle of wine.  Life is too short to drink cheap wine, am I right?  Priorities.

So I’ve put together a quick list of my 3 favorite denim brands under $100!  Plus, they each have fits that are flattering on a range of body types including all of my curvy ladies out there!  I’m usually a US size 12, but that can vary based on each brand so I’m giving you details below for how they fit me.  Hopefully that will help you choose the right size!

Express Jeans

If you follow me on Instagram then you know how much I love Express jeans!  They have just the right amount of stretch and they fit like a gem!  Plus, you get tons of fashion mixed in with their essential basic styles.  My go-to pair is the high-waisted ripped knee black skinny jeans above!  I’m 5’5″ and wanted these to hit right at the ankle, but when the regular length was delivered to me it was just a little bit too long so I took a pair of scissors and trimmed them to where I wanted.  Raw edge hems are in right now so use it as a good excuse to save some money on alterations!  I’ve found that Express fits true to size, so I always wear a US 12 in their jeans.  Keep in mind that their legging fit jeans have more stretch to them, so you may want to go down a size in case they grow as you wear them.  If you’re purchasing online go ahead and get your regular size plus one size down just in case! Pro tip: always be on the lookout for their denim sales.  They always have a good deal going on and they sometimes run BOGO promotions such as “Buy 1, Get 1 for $9.99.”

Articles of Society

You can find a great selection of these jeans at Nordstrom and at your local boutiques.  If you live in Charlotte, I recommend stopping by Luxe Angel Boutique who always carries this brand and the one listed below.  Lisa, the owner, has such a wealth of knowledge when it comes to denim and can truly help you find the perfect fit.  Articles of Society always uses a really soft denim fabrication with plenty of stretch.  They hug your curves in the best way!  I usually wear a size 31 in this brand.

Velvet Hearts

Similar to Articles of Society, you can usually find this brand at a local boutique.  Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack, and Neiman Marcus Last Call also sometimes carry this brand.  They offer some really fantastic fashion styles including the pearl embellished pair above!  I’m obsessed with those and can’t wait to buy them for myself.  They’re very flattering on a range of body types, but unfortunately only go up to a size 31.  This is the size I wear for reference.  Hopefully they will expand their size range soon because I know there are plenty of women who would love to wear their jeans in plus size!  In addition to the pearl embellished pair, they also have a fringe hem and an embroidered destructed grey jean that I have my eyes on.

Hope you all enjoyed this little shopping guide!  If you ever have any questions about these brands or another pair of jeans, please feel free to reach out to me at thestylelodown.com.
