Thanksgiving is the time for gathering together with friends and family to share in the joy of each others’ companionship.  There is nothing that I am more thankful for in this life than those I have the pleasure of sharing it with.  Having come from a large family, I always look forward to occasions where we can all get together.  The more people, the more food and the more wine, the better.  It’s loud and crazy, full of laughter and sometimes a bit of drama, but it’s always a day I cherish.  Traditionally, we spend Thanksgiving with my mom and immediate family.  However, for the first time Trent and I are switching things up and heading to the mountains to spend it with his mom.  It’s going to be strange not have all the people and noise and the foods I’ve grown up with, but I’m excited to experience Trent’s version of Thanksgiving for the very first time.

In light of Thanksgiving, I’ve begun to reflect on this past year and what exactly I’m thankful for.  My thoughts range from moments big to small, from people to experiences, and everything in between.  Read on to hear the top things I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving.

BIG THINGS:

Mom’s Unconditional Love & Resilience: Our family, especially my mom, has been through a lot the last several years.  At times I look back and can’t believe how much has happened in such a short amount of time.  I admire how strong and resilient my mother has been throughout all of this and that she is able to always be there for me, no matter what she may be dealing with herself.  Her unconditional love and support is something I cherish and I’m so grateful for because not every child has this.  She may not love it when I post pictures of myself in my underwear (sorry Mom!) but I know she will cheer me on no matter what.  Thank you for being the most incredible woman I know and I am so thankful to call you “Mom.”

My Husband: Trent’s ability to stay calm when I am a tornado of chaos always impresses me haha!  Again, after everything we have been through it has made us stronger and he has always stood by my side.  He supports me in my creativity, in taking risks by pursuing blogging full-time this past year, in growing my business and in showing his love for me every single day.  I don’t know what I would do without him and I am so thankful to have found the love of my life.

You, My Followers: Without all of you, I wouldn’t know that my voice was being heard.  As I sit here, I’m just shy of 10,000 followers on Instagram and I’m reflecting on how much my blog itself has grown over the last year.  It’s truly amazing!  I love the community that we have built through this platform and social media!  I’m so thankful for all of your love, support, and encouragement as I continue to share my personal style and body positive mission with the world.

Inspiring Women: There are so many women that inspire me every single day.  I’m so grateful to have them as part of my group of friends, my community of local bloggers, and people that I look up to in the media.  I can’t name them all, and you wouldn’t know who some of them are, but it includes my best friends, my sisters, my MOM (duh!), all of my Charlotte blogger babes, and a group of curvy bloggers that I have come to know so well.  I’ll release a list of my favorite bloggers soon!  There are so many , it may take a full blog post.  However, In case you need some new big names in the industry to follow, my favorite celebrities and models that inspire me include: Michelle Obama, Ashley Graham, Kate Wasley, Hunter McGrady, Tabria Majors, Amy Schumer, Gabrielle Union and Iskra Lawrence and SO MANY MORE.

My Body: I’m continuously thankful for my body.  While it’s had some health issues and been through a lot of ups and downs, it continues to get me through every single day even when I don’t think I can.  It’s seen me through all the good and bad.  I’m grateful for my strong legs, my big feet, my soft stomach and all the assets in between.

LITTLE THINGS:

Comfort Food: Gosh, I love food.  There are seriously days when the perfect meal can seem to fix anything.  I’m grateful for biscuits and gravy (my favorite!), incredible homemade pasta, and my Mom’s chicken and dumplings.

Podcasts: I never listened to podcasts until this past year as a way to keep me on-track when I worked from home.  It started with listening to business calls from Beautycounter, then I started listening to the Goaldigger podcast by Jenna Kutcher, then The Influencer Podcast and Off The Vine Podcast (makes me laugh every time!).  Suddenly, I became addicted.  Now with my full-time job it makes the mundane more interesting and brings a lot of joy to my day.  I listen while I work and to make my commute more tolerable.  They’ve been a game-changer!  My latest podcast addiction are True Crime and Cold Case Murder investigations.  My current favorites are: Serial, Up and Vanished, Atlanta Monster, In the Dark, Someone Knows Something, Hell and Gone, and Happy Face.

Boxing: Before I was laid off (and right after) I had a lot of anger and frustration built up from work.  I was working an exorbitant amount of hours, never had time for my blog, didn’t have time to process the loss of my stepfather and the chaos we incurred with building our home.  There was a lot of change and stress all at once.  I felt like a caged animal constantly being poked, prodded and it just continued to build.  Title Boxing was the release I needed.  It’s been an incredible workout, but the mental experience and the strength I feel after walking out of class is amazing.  I absolutely love it.  Boxing has been an incredible outlet and a place where I’ve also met some amazing friends.
