Varsity Jacket + Charlotte Lately Event
outfit details: varsity jacket // t-shirt // similar necklace // sunglasses // similar shoes // skinny jeans
As promised, I’m sharing my look from last week’s Charlotte Lately blogger networking event featuring my new varsity jacket! My sister, Kate, gave it to me for Christmas and let’s just say I might be a little obsessed. She did good! The combination of faux leather sleeves and textured wool gives just enough of a nod to vintage jackets while maintaining a modern feel. I wanted this look to be a little on the edge of casual and dressy (dress code was described as “not prom, but it isn’t a NASCAR race…so somewhere in between” haha!) so I paired it with a sleek pair of black skinny jeans, my Brian Atwood studded ankle strap heels, and a basic white tee. Of course I needed just a touch of glam so I threw on a silver bib necklace. It gets featured often on the blog, but it’s an old find from Nordstrom Rack and it’s starting to look a little worse for wear, so I think it is about time to find a replacement. I linked a similar necklace from SUGARFIX by BaubleBar for Target, but I also found this really cool chain “Courtney” bib necklace that would give you a similar vibe.
My jacket also comes in burgundy! (image c/o Abercrombie)
The Charlotte Lately blogger networking event was phenomenal. First of all, it was hosted by The Duke Mansion which is beyond beautiful. It is quintessential Charlotte and everywhere you look inside and outside of this venue you see a love for classic Southern hospitality and charm. In addition to the amazing location, we had a panel comprised of successful local professionals: fashion blogger Katy from Mumu and Macaroons, food and fitness blogger Jen from Peanut Butter Runner, photographer Will Taylor, a marketing tech guru, branding adviser, and CPA. It was an open Q&A format that let us all ask anything and everything. I’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear it ran a little later than planned because there was so much great conversation and community that was developed just within that one event. I love connecting with other influencers in the area and sharing ideas. I met so many women that I had communicated with on social media, but had yet to meet in person. They were from all walks of life with a range of ages, passions, backgrounds and goals. We all walked away inspired and with a greater sense of support and sisterhood. Thank you to Charlotte Lately for putting this event together!
Happy Friday and have a great weekend!
