cozy sweater from the flowerloft

Prior to my current career as a freelance professional and blogger, I worked in retail.  I was aggressively pursuing the pathway of becoming a buyer and worked for several major department stores, including Neiman Marcus.  It was there that my career began out of college and where I met Lauren, the wonderful newly-appointed owner of The Flowerloft.  She is a bright, positive and friendly person who always had great creative ideas and an incredible amount of patience!  Everyone enjoyed working with her and I couldn’t name a single time where I she didn’t try to find a silver lining in a situation.  Even when I knew she wanted to scream from frustration, as we all did at times, she would put on a great poker face.  While I haven’t worked with her in over 3 years, we have enjoyed following each other through social media and connecting every now and then.  When she announced that she had left her corporate job to spend more time with her growing family and decided to continue her mother’s long-standing business, The Flowerloft, I couldn’t be more thrilled for her!  I was especially excited when she approached me about doing a blog post about some product because I knew that if Lauren had anything to do with a retail business, it would be fantastic.

37 years ago Lauren’s mom, Glenda Base, opened a little flower and gift shop in Geary, Oklahoma.  She recently made the decision to retire and the timing was perfect: Lauren was able to continue her mother’s legacy by taking over The Flowerloft and turning it into a online boutique.  The site showcases a unique assortment of clothing, accessories, gifts and home decor.  One of these items is the fuzzy knit “Fireside” cardigan I’m wearing in the above pictures.  If you follow me on Instagram you’ve probably seen me wearing it several times in my stories, as well as a little sneak peek of this post where I talk about how ridiculously soft it is.  I’m not exaggerating!  When I first opened the package I immediately had to put it on and wore it around the house all day.  Over my pajamas, in fact, which made it even more stylish I’m sure.  I paired it with a bodycon knit dress that is perfect for layering under chunky sweaters and outwear as temperatures start to drop.  You can also wear it under pullovers and it’s a great essential item that can be use throughout the year.
