Happy Monday!  I’ve had to take a short break from the blog this past week because of some big changes happening in my life.  I’m excited to say that I recently received a promotion at work (YAY) and as a result had to do some traveling.  I went to New York for a quick market trip this past week and was surprised by how exhausted I was.  By the time Friday rolled around I was ready for some R&R!  I can’t express how grateful I was for such a beautiful weekend in North Carolina.

I recently wore this cape blazer by Trina Turk and fell in love with it.  The fit was fantastic and the materials were really comfortable.  I dressed it up for a more office-friendly look, but then I later paired it with jeans for a date night look.   The cape blazer is a great updated twist on a classic essential.  For some reason I feel especially refined wearing anything with a cape-back. My mind automatically wanders through images of others who have donned the style: Gwyneth Paltrow at the 2012 Academy Awards, Solange Knowles’ wedding gown, J.Lo in Giambattista Valli or more classic references from the likes of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly.  Yes, these are much more glamorous than the piece I’m featuring, but a girl can dream, right?

The blouse is really unique in that it has an asymmetrical scarf neck.  Essentially an extra piece of fabric connected at the front of the blouse wraps up and around the back of your neck to create a beautiful “scarf” look.  I think it also looks great belted or tucked into a pair of high-waisted pants, as I have in this post.  The fabric is silk chiffon, so prepare yourself for a very luxe experience each time you wear it.
