blue stripes + velvet pumps

By now some of you may have noticed that I have this thing with blue and white striped tops (and dresses!) for summer.  Honestly, anything blue and white I find myself lusting after: dishes, shoes, handbags, you name it!  But what makes this one different is that it pairs perfectly with my new pink velvet pumps!  That’s right, I said PINK VELVET.

I snagged these cuties for less than $17 at Marshalls a few weeks ago and I couldn’t wait to share them with you!  Spring/Summer velvet has been a big topic of conversation in trend forecasting.  Producing it in light tones, especially pastels, is an easy way for the fabric to seem visually lighter while maintaining that luxe element that everyone is looking for. I don’t know about you, but this look kind of reminds me of something a modern Barbie would wear and I’m ok with that.  Haha!  It was the first thing I thought when I looked in the mirror.  It’s also possible that it was the pink velvet pumps that made me think of Barbie.  They’re such a big feminine statement.  Either way, I’m not mad at it!

Another item I’m loving in this look are my Levi’s 711 Skinny Jeans.  I’ve never worn a pair of Levi’s until I was out shopping with a friend who said it is her all-time favorite brand.  Their jeans don’t have as much stretch in them, which can be a little challenging from the fit aspect.  However, they do hold everything in which is why I have really liked wearing them so far.  The Levi’s 711 skinny comes in an array of colors.  I gravitated towards the distressed white jeans because they’re the perfect summer staple that I can pair back to just about anything.  This includes stripes and pink velvet pumps!
