Amazon Try Before You Buy Plus Size Swimwear Try-On
Have you tried Amazon’s Try Before You Buy feature? Basically you can shop up to 6 items from select brands on Amazon and try them on at home for FREE for 7 days. You only get charged for what you keep! I’ve used it mostly for shoes, handbags and other accessories. I have tried some apparel, but unfortunately the plus size selection (size 16+) isn’t great. I’m hoping this will improve over time!
That being said, I noticed there was swimwear in my size available on Try Before You Buy and figured I would try a few pieces. I was honestly shocked this category was even available! But when you think about it, swim is probably one of the hardest categories to find the right fit in, so this model is a great solution. I just wish there was a greater selection of styles in plus sizes. Again, let’s hope there are more to come in the future.
For now, I found three swimsuits on Try Before You Buy that I wanted to share with you. See below for all of the looks and links to shop. For more details and to see them in motion, watch my “what I bought vs. what I got” recap on Instagram!
BIKINI TOP: SIZE 40DDD (cup fits large, size down)
BIKINI BOTTOM: SIZE XXL (fits TTS)
I have wanted to try a bikini with a swim skirt for a little more coverage. I also think they can be cute when done the right way! I loved that this bikini had a ruffled bottom and a tie detail, plus a fun dot print. It was everything I was looking for! Based on the photo online, the swim bottom should be low-rise, but it was more of a mid-rise fit on me. I’m long waisted and it hit just below my belly button unless I pulled it up really high (as shown, it didn’t stay that way once I started moving around). The top fit large in the cup, but perfect in the band. I usually wear a 40DDD/E, but the cup had plenty of extra room in it so I will probably size down to 40DD.
ONE PIECE SWIMSUIT: SIZE 16 (fits TTS)
I really didn’t expect for this swimsuit to fit well, but WOW did it fit! The tie detail worked great and I love that it was adjustable. It has full coverage in the back so the cut-out detail can be that fun, sexy feature. I really love this one piece! The only negative is that the front covering my chest gets really narrow on the strapless size. I typically wear a 40DDD/E bra and I had to be careful not to reach for something to abruptly or bounce around too much or I was going to have a major wardrobe malfunction. For those with smaller breasts, you don’t need to worry about it, but if you’re like me then stick to lounging poolside or on the beach in this swimsuit. Don’t try to chase after a toddler or play any beach volleyball!
ONE SHOULDER SWIMSUIT: SIZE 16
I didn’t love the print on this one pieces as much as I thought I would. I keep going for solids lately, so this was my attempt at broadening my horizons. In hindsight, they solid army green or black in this swimsuit probably would have been my preference.
